Thank you it’s like so many people are just filming themselves to get views and not really helping us! But you dude are the GOAT!
I’m having an issue where I’ve calibrated my stepper at 100mm but when i cut smaller or larger objects the dimensions are off. What am i doing wrong?
I wouldn't know, I can't diagnose issues in a RUclips comment, sorry.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy that’s ok. Appreciate the reply
Do you have a puzzle with double lines that you share. I didn't find one in you free download library?
No, I don't use that method anymore.
Thanks! Love the channel
Glad you enjoy it Robert! Thanks so much for the support!
Hello Sir. Awesome project and easy to create if you have the file -thank you. Thank you so much for your great ideas. Cheers
As always, thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing your creative ideas - always sharing that extra step outside the squares!
You bet Kathy! Thanks for watching!
I'm pretty sure I've watched this video 37 times. I know i have had to do something wrong. My box keeps coming off of my grid when I put the values in. Any suggestions? Thanks Rich.
Not really Tiffany. This is how I do it with every laser.
Putting a wood block over the material and hitting the block will apply more even pressure and have less chance to break a piece. Or use a rubber mallet
Thanks, but this works for me.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy wasn't a suggestion for you, I was just adding to the idea. I've watched many of your videos and you are beyond well versed in this. My comment was more for the newbies to lasers
Thanks for he video! Why there is in material settings speed 2000/min but in the parameters was 4000 to 7000?
The manufacturer recommended 5000, so in order to get a range of engraving results, I chose to go below and above it.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy yes i notised but down where you open material settings is only one parameter and it is 2000/min.
You can ignore that one.
THANK YOU!!! This is exactly the info I needed. I appreciate the clear and concise explanation.
Glad it was helpful!
This cannot be right! If both your tabs and slots are set to 10mm wide, then the tabs will burn to 9.9mm and the slots to 10.1mm (assuming a 0.1mm laser cutting in the middle of the line). So there will be 0.2mm sideways slop. You need to make the tabs 10.1 and the slots 9.9 (or the tabs 10.2 and the slots 10). I think your mistake was adding the kerf to the height of the tab (where it is not needed- the kerf will be subtracted from both the body and the tab) instead of the width.
Yep, that's right, and the difference is negligible it really doesn't matter unless you're doing inlays, which this is not. All of my slots and tabs fit perfectly to my liking.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Two things. For me, not allowing for kerf means a fit so sloppy it will not stay together dry. 0.1mm kerf adjustment gives a smooth snug fit. The sort I expect from my other woodwork. Why add the 0.1mm to the tab length? Parallel cuts will have the correct distance whatever the kerf- it is subtracted from both. In practice, it is better to never add tabs; always subtract slots. That way you can work to final dimensions, and the slots will allow for material thickness.
I agreed with you already. For me, I like mine to fit together under force, so that's why, in all my videos with slots and tabs, you'll see me seat the projects with a hammer and I don't use glue.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I do not understand. In this video, the tabs and slots are all set to 10mm wide. So they will come out at (given a 0.1mm kerf) 9.9mm tabs and 10.1mm slots. 0.2mm of slop. So where does the force come in?
I don't think you watched it all.
Just started in the laser game. Very glad to have found your channel! Excellent videos, thank you!
Welcome aboard! 👍
Love the music my friend. I have been a long time viewer awesome content
Much appreciated Bob, thanks! 👍
Do you happen to have a video of how to make picture frames?
Yes Mario, on my livestream channel: ruclips.net/video/FmbLi7eUEpQ/видео.html
Hi Rich, Who's running your storefront set up? I like it, very clean and efficient.
Thanks! I built it and I have a staff member that keeps up on the ordering.
Hello Rick - I like your two patterns. I want to make the welcome sign for an American friend who lives up here in British Columbia Canada.I went to order the signs but when the final order info was made I had to pay $8. What have I done wrong.
You didn't enter the coupon code from the video at checkout.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy thanks Rick I thought I had entered the code - thank you for the quick comeback out of curiosity would you be interested in sending this out digitally - just a thought
The links to the downloads are sent out automatically to your email from the store Burt.
looks very warm down there.I cannot imagine the heat and humidity you must have right now.
We're in the 90s every day now.
I would die down there. Temps here might make middle 60’s today. It’s beautiful
these are awesome, Thanks!!
Glad you like them!
Forgot to mention you have a way of explaining the process so an old man can understand
Thanks so much!
Fantastic presentation, I've been doing woodworking for about 10 years. This past Father's Day my kids gave me an Aufero 2. I am a graphics designer, and my son and I own affordable tint vinyl graphics. The light burn software is much like what I use for vinyl graphics, Except the icons are different. Your videos have helped me so much I want to thank you. Looking forward to more have a blessed day
Thanks for sharing Eddie!
Don't forget, *you can get both of these signs for free* in my online store using the coupon code in the video until July 4th, 2024!
Love the music! The project too! :)
Thank you Nancy!
Where do you get your painted wood?
Craft Closet. There's a link in the description.
Thanks Rich

Nice...
Thanks!
Those are COOL. Thanks for sharing
Glad you like them Jimmy!
With the open borders, why make a welcome layered project
It's not a political sign Lyle, it's for your front door to greet your friends.
That's a very cool looking sign. I'll have an Ortur H10 20w as soon as it gets here. I'm graduating from a 5w Laser. Hope to make something like that soon. At the moment I'm still on an updated version of Laser GRBL. I'll look into Lightburn once things settle in.
In the package are SVG files, so this can be made with any laser and software Ken.
Thank you Rich!!
My pleasure!
Hi Rich, Great to see you!
Hey, thanks Herb!
Thank you!!
Welcome!
Thank you for the video! How is the camera connect? Also by the Ethernet cable our by USB cable?
USB
Hi. If I want to get in to laser cutting ply, which is for marine use case. What do you think is a decent beginner printer on AliExpress today for a good price? I guess I need 80w or even more since it's for cutting 8mm wood. Anything you would recommend or think looks good for a decent price?
80W is the electric power of the machine. 10W is the true optical output. This is an older video, and thankfully they have stopped rating them that way. Diode lasers wouldn't be the choice for cutting marine grade plywood.
Thank you for this! Also, how can you NOT love the contrast of the dark ends??!!
Some folks edit the file and make the tabs larger to sand them down to the wood Heather. I prefer the burnt edges.
Thanks!
Thanks so much for the support Dave!
Ha! I love that you have your own theme music. That's so fun! Thanks for the tips on setting magnets too!
You bet Drew, thanks for watching!
About ten years ago did some powder coating on my VW engine . Was beautiful till had a flooded carburetor. The color wound up on the ground .
🤪
I use vertical fonts almost exclusively. I'm struggling to find the names of them
Just Google vertical fonts.
Rich - Brill - I was pulling me hair out trying to sort this. Thank You.
Glad to help John!
Yes what u did WAS scientific (the engineer's version of science) and perfectly acceptable. Ignore the Negative Nancys. To math it out all you need to do is multiply the meters per second with the cross section of the fan to get the Volume of air moved. 4" fan is just over 1 sq ft.. 1 meter is Approx 3.3 feet so each mps speed comes to abt 4 cu ft of air so CFM (cu ft / min) is abt 240 cfm. the actual value with smoke and particulates will be lower since that air is more dense than 'clean' air. even lower when cold or high moisture. This normally wont have an effect on a exhaust system except in the case of weak under powered fans (sch as the computer style case fans).Back pressure from a slight wind can bring those to a stop, lol.
I appreciate that, *thanks!*
Good tutorial. However i cannot get my rotary roller to spin 360 degrees, it keeps having a jacking sound when i click on TEST.
I don't know what that could be, sorry. Maybe a bad stepper motor.
Just stumbled across this video Rich , once again you’ve made it easy to understand and I’ll be trying this out very soon . You sir are a lightburn Master , and a thoroughly nice chap as well .
Wow! Thank you so much! I appreciate the comments Adam! 🙏
How do you even upgrade? When I try I get an error
Re-run the installation package as administrator. Right click on the download.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I have no idea how to do that

Thanks, Rich. I haven't had this problem yet, but with Windows, any disaster is possible. 😂 This is in my memory, so I can recall if it does happen.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching! 👍
Great shout Rich, thankfully I’ve never had that issue but I’m running LB on a mac but nice to know it’s there if there’s ever a problem
Awesome! 👍 Thanks for watching Adam!
Rich you really are the master, honestly don't know where many of us would be without your incredible tuition. Thanks very much indeed.
My pleasure Richard!
Am I to understand that Lightburn does automatic backups when using the software, or do I need to turn that on somehow?
It does system backups of the settings Steve. You can also go to the Gear icon at the top of the screen, and then in the File Settings, you can setup Auto-save for projects you're currently working on, as well as saving a Job Log.
